Hyde Park Camp ground is not the closest place but definitely the nicest playground around in a cool alpine environment. Nearly four miles of hiking and mountain biking trails in the park connect with many trails on the surrounding Santa Fe National Forest. Day use fee is $5. There is also a great sledding/tubing hill behind the main lodge. And the Circle Trail, which winds around the perimeter of Hyde Park, is good for snowshoeing (trailhead is across the road from the main lodge).

You can purchase a Day-Use Annual Permit (valid 12 months from day of purchase) for $40.
Annual day-use permits may be purchased at any state park or at the the division's Santa Fe Office.
