Houses the world’s largest collection of traditional folk art from around the world.
Children and the young at heart enjoy the book and toy lounge featuring books related to current exhibitions and toys that stimulate the imagination such as FolkManis hand puppets, a variety of building materials and blocks, doll house, train set and more! A generous selection of multicultural children's books and books for adults makes this a must visit for families with children. Display cases with special appeal to children are in the exhibition Multiple Visions: A Common Bond in the Girard Wing. The collection includes toys and dolls, costumes, masks, textiles of all kinds, religious folk art (ex-votos and milagros, nativities, icons) as well as paintings, beadwork, and more. All age hands-on art making programs are offered seasonally.
And after the museum tour, kids will love the Plaza Labyrinth outside on Milner Plaza. Experience the unique harmonics of this labyrinth by speaking or whispering while in the center. A natural amplification to sounds results from the surrounding wall and graduated elevations.
