Need Moms Interested in A Mama’s Co-op!
Pursue your dreams/career/projects/creativity with your children safely cared for nearby. Provide great socialization for your child, and have the support of other mothers while building community.
This would require minimal rent for dedicated work/office space, childcare exchange, and retail space. Looking for Moms that want to get some work done, start up their own small business, work on craft projects or have a space for whatever you need to do for yourself. Bring your children with you, yet have the ability to maintain your focus while your child is being taken care of by another Co-op mother in the children’s area. Mothers that rent a space would also be able to sell their merchandise, gently used baby/kid items, and post their services in a connected retail space. I have found some actual spaces in Santa Fe, centrally located, that would be willing to work with this idea.
Here is how it would work:
Ideally mothers would rent a space and work for themselves anywhere from a few hours a day to a few days a week. In return for childcare during those hours, mothers would provide the same number of hours that week in childcare and/or working in the store. The actual set up of the schedules and donated time would need to work around everyone’s schedule. This will need to be clear-cut and have everyone’s full commitment. We would need enough moms interested to make the rent worthwhile. The initial calculations are at about $175.00 to $200.00/month for about 80 to 100 sq ft of individual work/office space with 10-15 moms. That is cheaper than childcare by far, with the added benefit of having your child nearby. Of course, in order to have concrete numbers, I would need to find out how many moms are interested.
I stayed home with my son because I wanted to make sure he is well taken care of, and I didn’t want to work to pay for childcare. At the same time, I have dreams and goals that I want to pursue for myself. I am looking to help myself and other moms facilitate our dreams, give us a space to prosper and grow together. I am not looking to make money off of you. If you are a like-minded individual, please contact me ASAP and we can talk about some options. Tell your other mom friends too!
