About Us

Santa Fe Children began when I was looking for preschools for my son. I quickly realized that there was not a central location to find all the information new parents need. Then after a few calls to my "mama" friends, I realized that word-of-mouth information from other parents was just as important as a list of all the schools out there. So I thought someone should compile the school info in one place and allow parents to comment and rate the schools. Then I thought, hey, why not add afterschool programs...and toy and book stores...and kid-friendly restaurants...and things to do with kids indoor and out...and...and...and. So this is how and why Santa Fe Children was created.

This site is a work in progress and will continue to be for some time. I encourage you to submit suggestions and ask that you rate or comment on the listings on this site so other parents can get the information that only parents know.

And while this site won't tell you how to get your kids to eat their veggies or which stroller or car seat to buy (there's plenty of those sites out there), my hope is that it will help Santa Fe parents get info easily, remind you what Santa Fe has to offer and be a great resource until our kids are off to college!

Thanks for visiting!

Santa Fe New Mexican

New online family resource launched
A local mom recently launched a new online resource for Santa Fe families. Santafechildren.com is a website that includes information about schools, summer and after-school programs, day trips, toy stores and bookstores, clothing and gear stores, arts, music, theater and dance programs, sports and fitness programs, clubs and organizations as well as kid-friendly restaurants (Back Road Pizza, Bumble Bee's Baja Grill, Cowgirl Bar & Grill, among them) and indoor and outdoor activities. The website also includes a local events calendar and a section that offers parents information on birthday parties, pediatricians and dentists. Users can share their own ideas and post comments on their experiences with various schools, stores and programs. And businesses can list their names and phone numbers for free. Janine Pearson said she came up with the idea when she was looking for preschools for her son and realized that there was not a central location to find all the information new parents need.
